Hello from beautiful Montana:

So glad I found this resource. I am a family coach and parent educator and always looking for good information to share.

It has been my experience that 7th grade is the hardest time in any female's life. Sophomore is the hardest for males. If they are secure and know who they are then, the rest of their lives will be easier.

Please invite your readers to go to http://www.UseEncouragingWords.com for a free eBook on communication for postive results.

Thanks for all you do.

I was really moved by this entry. I have come back and read it three times. I like the idea of three "saves" a year. My seventh grader used up all his "saves" before the first month of school was over! Also, I wish I had read the part about them having complete stewardship over their rooms BEFORE I ventured in last week with the vacuum, a trash bag, and rubber gloves - determined to find the source of the strange odor emitting from his room! I found it! An old, shriveled up clementine rotting under his bed! Yuck! Next time, he can have stewardship (and rubber gloves!) and search for the discarded food himself! I love this parenting site! It gives wonderful advice.

I agree. That was a wonderful philosophy of parenting. I see a lot of wisdom in the piece, and admire that Annette and Scott were and are such engaged and conscious parents. Their boys are each a tribute to their love and guidance. I'll have to think long and hard to be able to write my thoughts. They won't be nearly as profound, but it has made me think deeply, and sometimes I'd rather not, if you know what I mean. But this was REALLY good! Some of the tenets we have followed. I really believe in helping your children become who are and want to be, and celebrating their journey. Thanks, Annette!

This is great advice. It reminds me of how much fun I had during the teen raising years. I really enjoyed teenagers.
